Located in one of the most luxurious neighborhoods of Lisbon, the hotel is situated on the corner of Rua Ivens and Rua Capelo. These two streets, which are important points of the city, are named after the Portuguese explorers Roberto Ivens and Hermenegildo Capelo. Known for their expeditions to South Africa in the 19th century, the duo once got lost in the forest for 42 days and later returned with many documents such as drawings, sketches and paintings. Inspired by the curious spirit of two explorers, the hotel was designed to welcome travelers from all over the world.

This historic 19th-century building consists of 87 rooms, a 150-square-foot penthouse with river views, 12 premium rooms overlooking the city center, 10 rooms with private lounges, an incredible bar and two restaurants. From the moment you enter the hotel, you step into a colorful and stylish world. First, you encounter a visual feast; you are surrounded by an incredibly elegant and aesthetic world where many textures are used and patterns and colors come together in perfect harmony. The hotel’s smell specially created for The İvens by Jo Malone strikes you the minute you are in and leaves you such a strong impression that the hotel is ready for everyone to ask for it and sell it. The hotel rooms are designed by interior architect Cristina Matos. With 30 years of experience, Matos has many international and local hotels and housing projects in her portfolio.

According to Matos, interior design, like art, tries to evoke emotions, create atmosphere, it allows them to change their mood and express the individuality of everyone. With a variety of settings and ambiances adapted to different contexts, Ivens Although a maximalist philosophy prevails in the common areas and restaurants, a design that emphasizes peace and purity was applied in the rooms designed by Cristina Matos for the relaxation of the visitors. The designer chose beige, white and green tones that evoke fauna and flora to highlight African inspiration in the wallpapers and carpets. Classic and sophisticated black and white floors stand out in the bathrooms of standard rooms. Marble is used in the suite rooms. The walls of the corridors are painted in petrol blue and arranged with period photographs. The floor is covered with a long carpet with a geometric motif. The tables and bookshelves in the space are decorated with specially selected travel and art books and magazines.

The restaurant section, which you can enter from inside and outside the hotel, consists of three concepts in itself. With its magnificent design, Rocco Gastrobar allows more drinks and small snacks.
